New parking charges pitched for south Warrington only, affecting Lymm and Stockton Heath. North review found no need.

The plan affects some car parks. Expect changes at The Forge, Pepper Street, plus Davies and Henry Street. Lymm currently offers one hour of free parking, while Stockton Heath gives fifteen free minutes and free parking after 3 PM.
Lymm might lose its free first hour, potentially costing 70p for an hour of parking. Stockton Heath’s Forge will still have fifteen free minutes, but parking will no longer be free after 3 PM. Regular fees will apply until 5 PM instead.
Stockton Heath may get new evening rates spanning Monday to Saturday, 5 PM to 10 PM. You’ll get one free hour, with re-entry barred for two hours; longer parking costs £1.40, and you can return all day.
The council answered claims of unfair targeting, noting that the parking charges in north Warrington had a review earlier. Due to different conditions however, they didn’t increase.
North Warrington already has parking fees in place covering town center spots to the train stations. Other spots in north Warrington did not get changes either because too much free street parking impeded new charges there.
