Warrington has a new police chief inspector, Rob McLoughlin. He takes over after Neil Drum retired from the role. Rob started with Cheshire Police back in 2002, just eighteen when he joined the force, and has devoted his career to policing North Cheshire.

His first assignment was in Widnes. For five years, Rob was a constable there and worked in both Widnes and Runcorn areas. In 2007, Rob became a detective constable and spent seven years investigating crimes in Warrington. He worked in the northern crime unit before earning a promotion to sergeant.

Next, Rob was a response and beat officer in Runcorn. He also served as a proactive detective sergeant before advancing to the rank of inspector. After that, he became a beat inspector for Widnes and later served as a detective inspector in Halton, where he oversaw the northern area investigation team.

More recently, Rob was a chief inspector in Runcorn, commanding the local policing unit and serving as detective chief inspector for the north area. Besides leading the Warrington unit, Rob also leads Cheshire Police’s work on robbery cases, and oversees night-time economy policing.

Rob is married and has two daughters, enjoys his family time a lot, and likes to follow football games. He expressed his pride in his new role, acknowledging Neil Drum’s good work, and wants to support his officers so that they can serve residents well.

He spent years policing Warrington in various frontline roles and, because of this, he knows the area well. He understands neighborhood policing challenges and recognizes their impacts too. He is committed to building public trust in the police and wants to put residents first to make Warrington even safer for everyone living, working, and visiting.

Rob plans to enhance safety in Warrington. He has a strong team, good partner relationships, and is a believer in proactive policing work. He expects his officers to work hard, remain calm, master basic skills, and target those who harm the community.
