Farishta Jami is from Meon Vale. She planned to join Isis-K in Afghanistan and was found guilty of terror preparation.
The 36-year-old was convicted in Leicester. Her charges fall under the Terrorism Act of 2006, for acts that occurred between 2022 and 2023.
Warwickshire Police released a statement explaining Jami’s plan to go to Afghanistan. She desired to “martyr herself” and saved £1,200 for one-way flights for her and her kids.
Jami shared violent content online, posting videos and documents. She also joined extremist group chats that supported Islamic State.
Police stated she researched weapons, finding info on AK-47 rifles. This included assembly and disassembly information.
Jami’s sentencing was scheduled for Friday, with her lawyer citing her stress. The first police photo showed her face.
West Midlands Police released a new photo on Friday; it shows Jami wearing a niqab. Her sentencing was delayed and will occur at a later time.
