Watford Colosseum Rebuild Progress Revealed in New Pictures
Watford Council shared some new images. The revamp includes four new bars. They are also re-roofing the building, and a new steel frame supports the roof.
The refurbishment work is progressing well now. They are updating the Art Deco lights, and a new stage is being installed too.
The council posted about the venue on social media, mentioning a transformed experience awaits. It will have a brand-new stage and updated bars, and the main entrance will reopen as well.
The project receives sixteen million pounds in funding. This is part of a government initiative that aims to improve local areas.
The Colosseum plans to reopen this autumn. The money got confirmed last November, following a review of previous grants.
AEG Presents UK will manage the venue. This is the same company running London’s O2 Arena, and they announced this last autumn.
Redevelopment work began last year. People penciled in October 2025 as the opening date, and act announcements already happened.
Level 42, a jazz-funk band, will perform October 15. They were the first confirmed act to book, though it’s unknown if it’s the very first event, as shows might occur earlier that month.
Other acts booked are Adam Ant and Tony Blackburn. Also, a Taylor Swift tribute act will perform, and the Strictly tour adds to the lineup.
Big names rocked the original Colosseum. Oasis, Robbie Williams, and The Who all played there, so it was a popular spot.
Watford Mayor Peter Taylor said the funding helps. It will unlock growth and create jobs, showing confidence in Watford.
