A Nando’s in Watford had a problem Saturday night. It involved a customer, a worker, and a rodent. The worker was near the food prep area when the customer jumped onto a chair.

Someone named Aftab Asif saw it all happen. He was at the counter, ordering food, when he saw the worker “laid out” under the counter. After that, the rodent ran across the floor.

The rodent moved toward one of the tables where a customer sat. The worker then dove towards the rodent and used a takeaway box to trap it. The box landed right next to the customer.

Aftab said the worker tried to cover the rodent as it wriggled inside the box. The customer quickly jumped off the chair because he did not understand what was happening.

Aftab claims the staff knew about the rodent issue. They told him to complain to head office, which the chartered accountant did. Nando’s apologized for the incident.

Nando’s said hygiene matters most to them. They are working with local authorities to fix it. Apparently, the pests were mice, and the restaurant closed for a deep cleaning.

The Nando’s has now reopened. It had a great food hygiene rating of 5/5. Staff think a nearby building site caused the problem, as the construction may disturb the mice.

Aftab was shocked by the whole ordeal. He thought it was surreal, comparing it to a scene from Fawlty Towers, feeling like a “car crash” unfolding before him.
