They will shut the road from Newtown to Burghclere. This closure will last about four months. Workers will replace old wastewater pipes there.

Thames Water will do the pipe work on Well Street. They will close parts of the road at times. This happens all week, even weekends, for four months.

The work starts this Sunday, March 2. They plan to finish around June 30. The road closes Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Saturday closures run from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Well Street links Newtown and Burghclere. Sections of it will be closed, so they can replace wastewater pipes. The project will last four months.

Thames Water sent a letter to people nearby. An employee said they would replace old pipes and dig trenches to do this. The work starts at Ox Drove’s junction and moves along Well Street. About 950 meters of pipe needs replacing.

The first phase concerns that first section. Upgrades should stop future problems. Bursts, contamination, and interruptions should decrease.

They apologize for problems caused by this work. The company wants to keep disruptions minimal. Upgrading pipes now avoids urgent issues later. Sudden wastewater problems will be less likely.

Detours will be clearly marked for drivers. People walking can still pass through, and emergency vehicles still have access. This access continues during the whole project.

Thames Water said you might hear noise, plus some vibration. This happens during the work hours. They will watch and try to reduce both.

Your wastewater service should not be affected. This service will continue during the entire project. They will keep it running as usual.
