Wells council offers financial aid to keep the tourist center open amid funding shortages due to rising inflation.

The Trust needs £12,000 to avoid closing, stating that inflation caused the shortfall. The council will help cover costs by paying up to £833 each month. The council could contribute £10,000 in a year, providing the Trust some time to secure lasting funds.
A group of councillors will work with The Trust as part of a Working Party. They will meet monthly to discuss finances. Peter Rainsford is a member of the Working Party.
He stated that all councillors agreed to help, acting as a safety net. The Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is in a prime location and showcases what Wells has to offer. Losing it would be a significant loss.
Steffan Aquarone MP is assisting in finding income sources. This could potentially reduce their financial needs. Aquarone pledged his support last year.
The tourist center serves many visitors annually, with over 10,000 people using it each year. It has been called vital for tourism.
