Caersws residents oppose a 29-house plan approved by the council, citing flood risks and urging Welsh Government intervention.

Some wanted to delay or reject the project. Those motions failed to gain enough support. A councillor thought rejecting it opened the door to appeals. He swayed others to approve the housing.
The residents group feels let down by the council’s choice. Now, they’re asking the Welsh Government to take charge. They think the plan has been flawed for years. Climate change makes flooding a bigger issue.
The council’s drainage officer doubts the plan will get approved. The government has considered intervention since last March. Details from the council go to a planning inspector. They will decide to take over or leave it be. A Welsh minister will decide if they take over. This decision will be after reviewing the inspector’s thoughts.
Pen-y-Borfa is still under government consideration for review. The Welsh Government says they are actively thinking about it.
