Local charity sees 12 to 15 weekly calls for housing help, highlighting urgent community needs in West Berkshire.

The charity spoke with Lee Dillon, a local MP. They discussed the meaning of “vulnerable.” Dillon will discuss this with Angela Raynor, who serves as the Deputy Prime Minister.
Scotland and Wales define homeless people as vulnerable, but England does not. West Berkshire Homeless wants England’s law to change.
West Berkshire Foodbank reported strong stocks last December. However, Christmas was still a very busy time, and they sent out 22,323 meals.
Each household got a food parcel. Each one also got extra Christmas treats, including cake, crackers, and cranberry sauce. Vouchers were also given so people could buy fresh food for Christmas dinner.
The foodbank received over 18 tonnes of donations and essentials in December 2024. So, they have good stock levels right now.
Greenham Trust reports £56,000 remains in their joint fund with West Berkshire Council. they call it the Cost of Living Fund.
The Fund granted money to two groups. One helped Age Concern provide subsidized meals, and the other helped Berkshire Healthcare Trust give out winter packs. Greenham Trust added £12,000 from their autumn “Sleep Out” event.
