West Berkshire awarded national tourism status, boosting local businesses & access to accredited funding.

West Berkshire is now on the tourism map and the partnership connects with the UK government. It gives local business a louder voice, helping them gain visibility in policy and funding. This marks the first time in 20 years for such recognition.
Justin Pemberton, an executive member for the council focusing on economic growth and regeneration, spoke about this achievement.
Berkshire’s six local authorities partnered with Berkshire businesses, a collaboration that lasted eighteen months and ultimately led to the successful application.
VisitEngland does not provide direct funding. However, the status unlocks opportunities, granting West Berkshire access to funding opportunities only for accredited areas.
Andrew Stokes, who directs VisitEngland, said the program transforms tourism. It supports growth sustainably and inclusively, while LVEPs simplify the tourism scene. England stays attractive for visitors because of these efforts.
VisitEngland will support Berkshire, having established it as an LVEP, and a regional lead will provide ongoing help.
VisitWindsor will lead the LVEP, partnering with other councils like West Berkshire and Bracknell Forest. Reading, Slough, Wokingham, VisitNewbury, and other groups are also involved.
The partnership is linked with other LVEPs, all sharing goals for growth. Sustainability and accessibility are vital to these goals. The LVEP will also support businesses.
