Hundreds of tubs collected in West Berkshire for Macmillan, thanks to Greene King and community effort!

The Tub2Pub scheme collected over 600 tubs, way more than last year. Thatcham Refillable backed the campaign, marking their fifth year helping out.
The collection encompassed various tubs, including six cracker tubs, thirty-eight sweets tubs, two hundred nine Hero’s tubs, one hundred sixty-eight Quality Street tubs, and 197 Celebrations tubs.
The Berkshire Arms in Midgham received the tubs for the second time. Seventy more tubs came from Kintbury and went to The Bear pub in Hungerford.
Jenny Kirby from Thatcham Refillable stored the tubs after asking folks to save them and widely sharing the request.
Storing them posed a challenge, as she initially used her dining room. The grooves in the tubs made them susceptible to getting wet. Therefore, outdoor storage proved unsuitable. Amazingly, no sweets remained inside any tub!
People continue to participate each year. Greene King will shred the tubs and transform them into granules for manufacturers, replacing the need for new plastic.
Each tub brings about eight pence which means the total collected will hit around £50. Last year, Tub2Pub gathered 150,000 tubs, raising £12,600 for Macmillan Cancer.
