People suggested better crossings on Stanningley Bypass and requested safer access for Farsley Farfield School students. Improving Whitehall Road crossings also got mentioned. People want to manage rat running in Calverley better. More cycle routes were a common request too.
The council heard the survey results, which covered vehicles, parking, walking and cycling. Bus stop access and street environment were included too. Most comments involved vehicles and parking concerns. Cycling issues were the next biggest topic.
The council says funding is needed for a local plan. This plan lists possible transport fixes, and funding must come from outside sources like grants. One councillor liked the report’s accuracy and wants action on these local issues quickly.
He mentioned recent speeding tickets on Farsley Town Street and highlighted ongoing parking problems too. Another councillor noted rat running in Calverley. He said some fixes could be cheap and easy and asked about available funding for them.
A council officer said there is no funding set aside yet, but they will include the ideas in future plans. Another councillor discussed Pudsey’s traffic light changes, citing that these alterations created traffic issues for everyone.
