A councillor proposes building a bridge over the River Great Ouse in King’s Lynn to better connect communities.

They’re fixing the ferry soon. People seek long-term solutions too. Council members agreed on a study. It got a budget of £150,000. Terry Parish thinks a bridge is better and doesn’t like just focusing on the ferry.
He believes Lynn needs a bridge as a long-term solution. People could cross anytime, day or night. The ferry is too small to carry enough people.
The River Great Ouse lacks a footbridge. People must drive a long way around via West Lynn and Pullover Roundabout. Then, they use the A47 road bridge to reach Lynn.
The council also wants to buy the Del Monte factory. It would add more parking spaces. Steve Bearshaw suggested the “park and ferry” idea. He called the factory an eyesore.
Alexandra Kemp supported the ferry study and gained widespread backing for it. A bridge might take a while to happen. Kemp stresses the ferry’s importance for West Lynn. It links a socially isolated community and reduces traffic in town. Officials are fixing the ferry now and want to repair its landing stage.
