Consultation shows backing for West Yorkshire trams. Leeds to Bradford line favored; aim is less traffic and quick trips.

People gave feedback this summer and autumn. Over 4,800 people shared their thoughts. The feedback helps pick the best plan this year. Then, they will ask about the route in 2026.
Most people liked the Leeds to Bradford line. Lots also wanted a line to White Rose from St James’s. They said good connections are very important. They also want less traffic and quick trips matter too.
Businesses and schools also support this plan. They think it helps everyone. A university leader said it will help the economy and reduce pollution.
The mayor said people want mass transit badly. It is a big project for the region, and she wants construction to start by 2028. This could put more money in people’s pockets.
A route from St James’s to Leeds is favored. It may go near the arena and university. It could also go past Millennium Square, continuing to the train station area.
