Community leaders support campaign against Westerfield Quarry, citing resident concerns over TRU7 Group plans.

TRU7 Group aimed to inform people and clear up any confusion. The firm previously discussed minimizing disruption, reducing noise, and limiting pollution and waste. However, residents and leaders have widely criticized the quarry plan. One resident expressed feeling the village was “under siege.”
Spencer acknowledged residents’ real worries concerning the local quarry plans. He met with representatives beforehand. The exhibition allowed people to ask about the plans and learn about potential local impacts. Spencer stated he will monitor developments and follow the plans closely.
Elaine Bryce welcomed the public exhibition. She noted it let residents see the plans and understand the potential impact better. Residents questioned experts at the hall, learning how the quarry would impact the village. Mr. Hicks, attending as a councillor, emphasized that residents’ voices must be heard and concerns about traffic and other issues must be addressed.
TRU7 recognized the strong opinions on display and wished to show residents the plan details. Peter Deer, with Stop the Quarry, remains unconvinced. He stated the new proposals differed, specifically by reducing transport from the first plan.
Deer finds the changes potentially misleading. He fears a “Trojan horse” situation. He questioned guarantees for the scheme’s size. The CFO could not provide any guarantee, stating that the current plan reflects the present situation. Deer worries they will expand the plans later, making it harder to refuse future plans.
