Sixteen Whitby eateries participate in Restaurant Week, March 3-9, offering set-price menus to showcase town’s diverse food.

Visit North Yorkshire organizes the event. They’re part North Yorkshire Council. Harrogate and Selby already had it.
Participating restaurants offer special menus. Prices are £10, £15, £20, or £30. You must mention the Restaurant Week offer.
Becketts is a small cafe on Skinner Street. They are joining the event too. Liam and Julie Fitzpatrick own Becketts. They sell breakfast, brunch, and lunch. They also have coffee and homemade cakes.
Vegan and gluten-free options exist too. They call Becketts a calm space. The couple moved to Whitby. They retired from teaching four years back.
Julie Fitzpatrick says they focus on good, healthy food. They source it locally, whenever possible. She adds that people find the cafe cosy. It’s welcoming and calm, they say. This matters to the owners. They want people to feel better after visiting.
The couple really wanted to join Restaurant Week. Julie thinks it is important for Whitby. It shows off the town’s varied food spots. She notes it includes independent cafes like hers.
Becketts is away from the harbour area. People must make an effort to find them. Visitors say they never knew the street existed, even after coming for twenty years. Any awareness helps their business. It also aids other businesses since it’s community-driven.
Councillor Mark Crane supports the event. He says it boosts awareness for businesses. He also hopes it attracts new return customers. Visit North Yorkshire partners with a local radio station called This is the Coast. They help promote Restaurant Week.
