CCTV captured vandals damaging newly renovated Wick toilets. Police investigating after repeated incidents shared at council.

The toilets reopened last summer after a big renovation. The project cost £400,000. Councillor Bremner said the cameras tell a story and that he supports the CCTV investment.
Council members asked about a conviction. Bremner couldn’t say more about that, but he stressed the cameras are working well. This sends a message to vandals: they cannot get away with it.
Bremner is limited in what he can share because it is an ongoing investigation. The toilets closed again after damage on December 23rd, having reopened six months prior.
Police are investigating the damage, which occurred around 7:50 AM on Monday, December 23, 2024. The police are currently making inquiries.
Doors and flush sensors got damaged. The showers stopped due to exposed wires, and the building closed for safety reasons. Repairs happened, and the toilets reopened.
Councillor Campbell mentioned trials in Shetland and questioned why Caithness can’t do the same. She asked why people face no consequences in Wick and said she wants the vandalism to end.
Bremner said Caithness can prosecute, but proof is needed. Evidence exists, but they must wait.
Norma Craven said police likely have reasons. She suggested trusting their judgment.
Bremner stated images involve more than police, indicating that several agencies are investigating this.
