New children’s home approved in Winsford despite local worries. Compass Children’s Homes will manage the facility.

Some locals were not happy about the plan. They worried it was just a generic “care home”, differing from a specific “children’s home”. People feared different residents might need different levels of help.
One person mentioned rumors in the neighborhood. They thought the house would be like a “borstal” and hold ten “delinquents”. The person also predicted more traffic and staff.
The applicant addressed these concerns in their statement. They chose this location very carefully for the children, as the area is a good fit for their future residents’ needs. Kids can easily access Winsford’s resources.
Ofsted has power over the location’s suitability as well. If Ofsted doesn’t approve, the home cannot open. Six full-time staff are planned for the home. At least two will always be there with the kids.
