MVV Environment starts preparatory work for the Medworth incinerator, set to create energy from waste.

The project will create energy from waste. This facility should produce 54 megawatts. Initial work includes design and site prep, and they’ll clear plants and build stuff soon.
This facility is called the Medworth Energy from Waste Facility, processing over 500,000 tons of waste. This waste is household, commercial, and industrial, and it cannot be recycled.
It’ll generate electricity and steam, with the incinerator’s capacity at over 50 megawatts. Locals can use the steam and electricity. Extra electricity may go to the power grid.
The managing director is excited to finally start, as approval for the Medworth project came last February.
Medworth CHP Ltd is handling the project, using multiple contracts. A Swiss company secured the main contract, handling engineering, procurement, and construction.
Fenland Council tried to block it in court, but the court challenge failed. Then, in May, they got an environmental permit. Work is happening to prepare for the next steps.
A local company quit the site clearing job. Andrew Humphrey said he didn’t know it was for the incinerator. He supports the local community now, and they oppose the incinerator strongly.
