A 999 call reporting a fatal stabbing in Bourne’s Wellhead Park was played to a jury in the Reece Bruns murder trial.

Kyle Marshall, age 37, died from a stab wound. The stabbing occurred last June in Wellhead Park. Prosecutors believe a machete was used and that Reece Bruns, age 20, attacked Marshall. Marshall went to the park to confront Bruns.
Bruns and a 17-year-old deny the charges. Both are accused of murder and possessing a blade. The younger person allegedly provided the machete.
A woman picnicking in the park called 999, as she witnessed part of the fight. The witness said she was about 100 yards away. She saw two men, one white, one mixed race, and her friend thought a fight was starting. The woman stated the white man fell backward and her friend said he had been punched.
The woman then saw the mixed-race man run toward a park exit. He passed their picnic blanket, she stated. The woman saw he held a knife, describing it as quite large, around ten inches long, and with a curved edge. The witness said she felt panicked as she processed what she had just seen.
The woman approached some women on a bench and one woman said, “he’s been stabbed”. The witness asked if she could help. Then, jurors heard the 999 call, made at 9:55 p.m. The woman gave directions to Wellhead Park, confirming the man was not breathing. The trial continues.
