Adam Dodden avoids jail despite 110,000+ indecent images. Receives suspended term, rehab, and prevention order.
There were different levels of serious images. 1,343 were the worst kind. 1,116 were a bit less awful. 108,036 were the least severe of the group. He also had some really gross animal stuff. Dodden had three awful animal images from 2015. He also had 97 images of kids that were illegal. These were collected between 2015 and 2018.
Police got a tip that someone had bad images at his house. Officers visited Dodden’s home after this. His parents answered the door. Dodden admitted he had the images. The bad images were easy to find on his devices. These were in his bedroom, the court heard. He had two laptops and four hard drives.
One terrible video was of a young child. She was between three and five years old. It showed her being abused, the court heard. Dodden’s lawyer said he was lonely and had problems with women.
He lived with his parents after his brother died. This death occurred back in 2008. The judge said the images hurt kids again each time someone views them. He also said possessing the images supports the abuse.
They said Dodden was unlikely to do it again. He had no prior record. He got a suspended jail term of 12 months. He also must do 45 days of rehab. Dodden will have things taken away from him. He got a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. He must also tell police where he is living. He has to pay £100 for court costs.
The judge thinks rehab better protects the public. This is better in the long run, he said.
