Irene Muggeridge celebrated her 106th birthday at Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh Court.

Cards, flowers, and her toy cat surrounded her. She calls the toy cat Toby. She said she always had a dog, but now thought a cat was right.
Irene loves activities at the care home; she especially enjoys the sing-a-long sessions. She told them she knows all the words. Sounds like fun!
Sharon is an activities coordinator there. Sharon called Irene a valued person, and stated that Irene has a great sense of humor and always has kind words too.
Irene became famous a few years ago when she participated in the Unit Award Scheme. It’s a learning program for residents, which formally recognizes achievements.
Irene took arts and crafts lessons back then and made her own woollen pom-pom! She got an official certificate for it, and her achievement went in the local news. Everyone at the home was so proud.
She said she doesn’t think about her age, putting entirely out of her mind. Irene doesn’t dwell on being over a 100. “You are only as young as you feel,” she said.
She feels young, even now, and happy to try nearly anything. What a wonderful attitude to have!
RMBI Care Co. runs the care home. It is part of the Masonic Charitable Foundation, offering residential, nursing, and dementia care. This support serves Freemasons, families, and the community.
They have cared for older people a long time, over 180 years to be exact! Today, they support over 1,000 residents across seventeen care homes located throughout England and Wales.
The care home spokesman stated that they treat each person as an individual. They believe everyone should enjoy later life, and help residents stay independent. Their values are kind, supportive, and trusted.
The Masonic Charitable Foundation funds everything. Freemasons, friends, and families give generously. They want to build better lives, too, by encouraging, promoting, and improving.
