A woman was charged with theft after allegedly stealing £400 from a victim in Warrington town centre.

The victim withdrew £400 at Nationwide on Sankey Street. She then went to a nearby shop.
A woman watched her get the money and followed the victim into the shop. The suspect then stole the victim’s purse and fled on foot.
Police learned she ran to the train station and boarded a train going to Sheffield. Warrington police alerted transport police in Sheffield. They arrested the woman when she got off the train.
Police seized the stolen money too. Warrington officers went to Yorkshire and brought back the cash and the woman to Cheshire. Cheshire Police charged a woman about the theft; she has a court date tomorrow.
A police spokesperson discussed Operation Incinerator, noting that a woman got charged for theft in Warrington. Elenka Georgieva is from Sheffield on Shoreham Street. She was arrested at 12:55 AM on Wednesday, February 12 by British Transport Police at Sheffield railway station.
Georgieva, age 32, got charged with theft from a person and remains in custody right now. Her court appearance is Friday, February 14 at Chester Magistrates’ Court. The charges relate to the Warrington incident, which occurred around 1:06 PM on Wednesday, February 12.
Inspector Lee Hillyard talked about distraction thefts. They can happen to anyone, anywhere, since thieves know ways to distract people before stealing. Some people may not realize they were targeted until much later.
