Elderly woman seriously injured after being struck by a bus in Byker. Police investigating; seeking witnesses.
An elderly woman in her 80s was hurt badly after being hit by a number 12 Stagecoach bus. She is in the hospital now in serious, but stable condition.
Police spoke with the bus driver at the site, who stayed to help them find out what occurred. Part of Shields Road was closed after the crash but has since been reopened for traffic again.
Roads Policing Unit officers investigated the incident carefully. Police want to hear from people who saw the collision, especially those with dash cam videos showing the moments before it happened.
