Woman fatally shot near The Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt after drinking inside earlier. Police investigate.
The shooting happened in Knockholt, near Sevenoaks. It was at The Three Horseshoes pub. People left things outside the pub, including flowers and Red Bull cans. A candle and a teddy bear are also there.
Michelle Thomas runs The Three Horseshoes. She told Sky News what she heard and saw that night. She heard two gunshots a little after 7 PM. Michelle was getting ready for dinner service.
She said the woman was in her forties and had visited the pub before, but “wasn’t a regular” visitor. Michelle then described the scene after these gunshots. She mentions “screaming, shouting, crying.”
People had just started to sit down there, as it happened early in the evening. Michelle spoke well of an off-duty officer who was “amazing” and stepped in to help. Around 50 people were inside the pub then. The pub reopened the next day.
The pub owner gave a statement afterward, sharing her sincere sympathy to the family. She hopes to support anyone affected by this and asks for respect for those involved. Police are checking if the suspect went into the river. They think the suspect knew the victim.
The police went to Dartford Crossing on that Friday before midnight. They found a car linked to this case, with a firearm inside the vehicle, too. The police may consider the suspect went in the water, as they had reports of a man near the barrier.
The investigators said they’re looking for only one suspect. They also mention that the public does not face risk and that specialist officers support all the families involved. This support is important after such a sad event.
After the shooting, there was a blue tent at the pub. Police closed Main Road and Pound Lane. Now, the area around the pub is open. The pub is opening again, but only for locals. People began leaving tributes yesterday afternoon; more appeared overnight near the pub.
