A woman received a suspended sentence for stealing nearly £3,000 worth of Jellycat toys from Norfolk garden centers.

Ruby Smith, 35, from Eye, Suffolk, received a 26-week suspended jail term, suspended for 24 months, after admitting to the thefts. She had a prior history of shoplifting, according to Norfolk Police.
A search of Smith’s home revealed about 40 Jellycat toys. At Norwich Crown Court on Monday she was ordered to pay both £1,400 and a £154 victim surcharge.
CCTV footage showed Smith concealing toys in a bag, using her clothes, and even a child’s pram to leave the stores without paying. These thefts occurred between July and September of last year at garden centers in Bressingham, Wroxham, and Thetford, all in Norfolk.
In addition to the suspended sentence and fines, Smith will undergo electronic monitoring for three months, attend a 40-day program, and participate in rehab for up to seven days.
Jellycat, a London-based company founded in 1999, is famous for the plush toys sold online with prices ranging from around £12 for small items to up to £200 for the giant versions.
