A woman got stuck on cliffs in Scotland trying to rescue her sheep. Coastguard teams responded to the incident.

Multiple coastguard teams responded, including Stranraer, Portpatrick, and Ballantrae, as well as Portling, Isle of Whithorn and Kirkcudbright. A helicopter and Kippford RNLI assisted. The woman was safely winched to the clifftop and was unharmed. The sheep’s situation is still unknown.
A coastguard officer named Stewart Bryden spoke, explaining that the woman lived nearby. She thought she could save the sheep herself and tried to bring two sheep back up. However, the rescue services got a call because she got stuck.
Bryden warned people about coastal rescues, advising, “Don’t try and attempt the rescue yourself.” Kippford RNLI had their first call of the year. Initial reports said someone fell, but they soon learned the person wasn’t hurt.
The rescue was complicated, with sea swells reaching up to three metres, making accessing the cliff’s base hard. The lifeboat crew spoke to the woman, assuring her help was coming.
Helicopter 936 arrived and winched the woman to safety, allowing her to speak to the coastguard. Afterwards, the crews went back. Mitch Panteli, Kippford RNLI Helm, commented and praised the teamwork, noting that training together helps agencies succeed.
