Paige Dagg went to court in Blackburn. She broke her suspended sentence terms. It started with a cider having a little alcohol. Then, she drank on Christmas and Boxing Day.

Paige, who is 32, admitted her mistake. She did not follow the rules of her sentence. The court fined her £40 because of this. The court won’t make her serve jail time now. Paige is working with probation well. The drinking happened close to the order’s end.

Tracey Harrison spoke for the probation folks. Paige got 18 weeks jail suspended for 18 months. This was for having a blade and hurting a worker back in August. Her sentence also required no alcohol for 120 days. A tag checked her compliance. She broke the rules by drinking at different levels.

Damien Pickup defended her in court. He said Paige’s sentence was actually working. She has not committed new crimes, he said. She has worked well with probation too.

He argued the first rule break was unfair. Paige went to a kids’ party. Her family then went out to eat a meal together. Paige chose a non-alcoholic cider drink there. You’d think it would have no alcohol inside. Sadly, some ciders have small amounts of alcohol.

She reported this to probation services. Pickup said the warning felt harsh for her. He noted Christmas and Boxing Day were days 118 and 119. She partied when family visited. She says sorry for drinking then. Paige followed the order for 117 of 120 days. He asked for a fine and probation to continue.
