A University of Worcester lecturer assists in launching a project promoting coastal walks and train travel.

The website helps people walk the coast and take trains back, boosting tourism in the area. The Railwalks website has lots of info, telling you about train stations near the coast and showing walking distances between them.
You can even download files for walking apps, making trip planning super easy. The trips can be one day or longer. Andy says they map coastal railways and paths and claims they’re the first in Britain to do this.
The idea is becoming popular nationally because sustainable tourism is growing, and this project fits right in with changing vacation habits. It’s great to see all that.
They found over 250 stations on Britain’s coast. There are 150 walks under 10 miles, and 200 walks are shorter than 20 miles. Andy used his design skills for the maps.
The team has updated maps using local tips. Andy says design isn’t just for products; communication is a big part too. He shows students how skills apply widely, which helps in today’s creative jobs.
