The B5605 road’s closure anniversary is January 25. The road closed after a 2021 landslip. Storm Christoph caused the landslip. Repairs should finish in May, according to reports.

Residents face issues due to this road closure. Traffic became chaotic in nearby areas. This happened when the A483 viaducts closed. People worried about funding for the repairs.

The work should still finish this spring. Work paused to get needed permits. Jones Bros contractors had a minimal presence over Christmas. Security measures stayed in place during Christmas.

People were asked to keep the site clear. Scottish Power did electrical work before Christmas. They relocated cables near the site. Bridge joint replacement works happened after Christmas.

Work should restart, said Cllr Terry Evans. Contractors awaited permits for work near the river. Natural Resources Wales (NRW) needed to issue permits. NRW and the council say there were no delays.

NRW stated that work paused for permit approvals. They issued a permit on February 6, 2025. This was for flood risk activity. Wrexham Council says they work with partners.

They want all approvals in place. This is a normal part of the project. They say it did not delay the project.
