Council provides update on Newbridge Road repairs, closed since 2021. Work is progressing, pending final permits.

People are really annoyed by this road closure. It made traffic bad in Llangollen, especially when the A483 viaducts closed.
Ken Skates, who represents people in Clwyd South, asked the council for an update last month. He wants to tell them when the road will reopen.
The council responded to Ken Skates this week, stating that Jones Bros did work before Christmas. They were working within stated consent limits and finished stabilizing the road and access track.
Utilities finished moving buried services in January near the landslip area followed by the fix of Newbridge bridge joints. This should prevent delays later when reopening. Consents are now needed for permanent fixes.
Some work is near the river. They sent plans to NRW in December. NRW’s Fisheries team discussed the details this week, and they expect confirmation from NRW soon.
Then permits can be issued. Jones Bros will start work when permits arrive. Environmental permits were signed on February 6th, 2025.
Permissions are now very important, affecting how fast the project finishes. The council and Jones Bros want to finish quickly and are pre-making parts off site.
Someone asked NRW for their comment.
