A Wrexham man admitted stealing cheese from a Co-op to sell for money to pay bills. He received a fine.

Williams is 50 years old. He admitted he stole cheese last year on November 13 from the Co-op in Wrexham. The cheese was worth £32.50.
The prosecutor, Rachael Drew, spoke and said CCTV saw Williams at the Co-op on Lord Street. He put cheese in his jacket, didn’t pay, then left.
Police questioned Williams, and he fully admitted the theft. His lawyer, Ceri Lewis, said he went to the police himself and confessed to the crime freely.
Lewis said he stopped offending for two years, which was a real achievement for him because before, he was always in court, describing it as a “revolving door.”
Lewis explained that he and his partner needed money badly as they had no money for bills. He stole something easy to sell quickly.
Lewis said he used most of the money to help pay for gas and electric. Ian Jones, the Chairman of the Magistrates, then addressed Williams directly.
Jones said Williams was doing well and had almost two years clean, but then “fell down this hole.” Williams received an £80 fine.
He must also pay £85 in costs, a £32 victim surcharge, and £32.50 as compensation.
