The Welsh Government is giving £10 million to help build affordable housing as part of a larger investment.

This investment will create more homes for people, with sixteen schemes ready to begin, delivering 238 new homes. The funding buys land and properties, turning them into sites for new houses. North Wales Housing will get 39 homes in Llay, Wrexham, called “The Poppies.”

Another £30 million comes from a grant in the 2025-26 budget, also supporting the housing plans. Jayne Bryant, in charge of Housing and Local Government, spoke about the new funding, saying it helps people and families in Wales.

Investing in housing tackles poverty, helps health, and boosts the economy, while more homes are needed, now and later, and the 2025-26 budget helps address this.

The money builds more homes and helps meet the government’s goal of 20,000 new low carbon homes to rent during this term. It supports projects started in 2025-26, which will finish in the next term, and another program called TACP will reopen with £100 million available.
