Easy Shop in Wrexham is temporarily closed for illegal tobacco sales, following a court order.

Wrexham Magistrates made the closure order following a request from Trading Standards officers. They presented evidence of illegal cigarette sales that happened over recent months.
The shop is now closed and locked, and it will stay closed until May 11, 2025. This follows a similar action in Ruabon, where Kalar Mini Market closed for three months in January.
Roger Mapleson spoke about illegal vapes and said their use by kids worried him. New laws are coming this year to help control them, with the goal being a smoke-free Wales by 2030.
Selling illegal products harms the community, so authorities will use legal powers to protect young people’s health. Cheap tobacco makes addiction easier for kids, and disposable vapes are risky for kids too.
Disposable vapes also create environmental problems. Discarded vapes can cause fires in waste facilities. Mapleson welcomes the shop’s closure.
The closure affects both the business owner and the property owner, who cannot use the property for three months. Authorities will penalize this illegal trade and landlords should know about tenants’ illegal actions. They may lose use of their property too, as the court can order this action.
