A Wrexham convenience store has been ordered to close for three months after reports of illegal sales.

Trading standards made an application describing illegal cigarette and vape sales. Officers also seized these items. The shop must stay closed until April 29, 2025.
Councillor Hugh Jones discussed the issue as the lead member for public protection. He’s worried about kids using vapes, pointing out that new laws are coming later this year.
These laws will help control illegal vapes and tobacco with the goal of a smoke-free Wales by 2030. Selling illegal items is a big concern, and legal powers will be used to protect young people’s health.
The councillor expressed satisfaction with the closure, acknowledging that it will close the shop for a while. This impacts the business owner, and the property owner can’t use the building either; it’s unusable for three months.
Landlords should pay attention because illegal activity could mean losing building use through court order. Cheap cigarettes make it easier for kids to get addicted and harder for adults to quit smoking.
Cheap vapes pose health risks to kids who didn’t smoke before. Discarded vapes also cause environmental problems. North Wales Police supported the closure order.
