Wrexham Council wants to improve transport. They are working with other groups to achieve this. The goal is better access and more jobs, with a focus on the area near Moneypenny and the A483, known as Western Gateway.

The North Wales Growth Deal will invest significantly, planning over £1 billion for North Wales, which should generate over 4,000 jobs. The Western Gateway is slated to receive £9 million for business development, emphasizing that good transport is key for this area.

The council hired experts to study the transport issues, working with transport and government groups to understand the area’s key transport problems. These problems include traffic, unsafe junctions, and bus delays due to congestion.

Bus routes do not reach many desired locations, and walking or cycling to the station proves difficult due to unconnected walking routes. The presence of the A483 road further complicates pedestrian access, and parking is a persistent problem at the local hospital.

While no final plans exist for Western Gateway yet, the council envisions high-quality offices with easy access via green transport. A proposed new road would link Ruthin Road and Moneypenny, aiming to ease hospital traffic from A483, Junction 4.

The plan may include closing part of Croesnewydd Road to cars, restricting access to buses and emergency vehicles only. This measure intends to prevent drivers from using it as a shortcut.

The council actively seeks public input to understand local transport issues and desired improvements. They also want feedback on the Western Gateway plans, emphasizing how this input will shape the future.

The engagement period is open now until March 21, and all feedback is valued for the study. The study informs future transport designs, and the Council will consider the next steps afterwards, working collaboratively with the government.
