Let’s talk about women’s rights. A good starting point is the fight for the vote. It happened at the beginning of the last century.

Emmeline Pankhurst spoke in Wrexham back then. She was a leader in the suffragette movement. Kitty Marion protested Lloyd George at an event. He later became Prime Minister during World War One. This event made national news.

Girlguiding and Scouts offer great programs in Wrexham. Girls gain important skills. They participate in community projects, and they support and train younger members.

I met We Mind the Gap. They give “gappies” amazing chances. Young women benefit from their work. They get coaching and skill training. These experiences boost confidence and prepare them for life.

Wrexham also has groups helping women in tough situations. DASU supports those facing domestic abuse. Most of their clients are women. Women lead this organisation.

Call DASU at 0333 360 0483. For after-hours help, dial 0808 80 10 800. Bawso supports minorities facing abuse. They offer a 24-hour helpline at 0800 731 8147.

They provide crisis help and advice. They also provide access to safe houses. It’s important to remember that not all women have equal global rights.

I met The Maiden Factor in Westminster. They fight for Afghan girls’ education. Awareness of this issue is key. I urged a cricket boycott against Afghanistan. This was to protest their treatment of women.

I will keep fighting for women and girls’ rights.
