Worcester residents fear accidents on Wylds Lane due to speeding and pavement driving.

Her daughter was hit by a van while biking on Wylds Lane. A friend got hit by a car’s mirror when the car was on the pavement. Both incidents occurred within a year.
Wylds Lane is a small street in the city center, connecting several schools. One side of the street has parking spots.
Bantock says drivers are dangerous on Wylds Lane, particularly near Perry Wood Walk and London Road. She said drivers ignore the rules there. Cars, vans, and trucks drive on the pavement to navigate the narrow space, leading her to believe a serious accident is likely.
Kids often walk on Wylds Lane on their way to Red Hill Primary and other schools. Bantock often walks her granddaughter to Red Hill Primary.
She contacted councilors about the issue, but they said that while it’s a problem, nothing can be done due to the drop kerbs that let cars easily drive onto the pavements. She fears a serious mistake could happen, saying it only takes one. A council spokesperson wants dangerous driving reported to West Mercia Police.
Wylds Lane is a narrow and busy road with parking on the street. Double yellow lines exist on one side to help traffic move and prevent parking. The council will ask officers to check the area.
