XL Bully Owner Sought Trainer Before Teenager’s Fatal Dog Attack

A woman owned a dog. People think it was an XL Bully. The dog killed a teenager. The owner looked for a trainer, saying the dog was “hyper fixated.”

Kelcie Jones posted on Facebook last November, seeking a Bristol dog expert. She said her dog pulled and fixated and weighed about 50-55kg. Training tips did not work.

The dog was likely named Prince and weighed about eight stone. He attacked Kelcie’s cousin, Morgan Dorsett, who was nineteen years old. She was visiting Kelcie’s flat in Withywood, Bristol. The attack happened on Wednesday.

Morgan stayed almost two days. Before the attack, the dog tried to attack a neighbor about three weeks prior.

A woman saw the dog with its owner. It pulled and tried to get to her, possibly drawn by the shopping, and the woman was terrified. She thought about calling the police.

A neighbor also had a bad encounter but decided not to call. The neighbor felt heartbroken for Morgan and is thankful the dog was destroyed. She thinks the breed should be banned because she sees these attacks often.

Neighbors heard screams and saw the owner covered in blood outside. Despite paramedics’ efforts, they could not save Morgan, and she died in Kelcie’s flat. Police killed the dog at the scene.

A witness named Nicola Harrison spoke, saying she heard “constant screaming” until 10:30 PM. She said the woman was covered in blood, and the dog attack was discussed.

Nicola said one neighbor helped the owner, and Nicola initially thought a dog had been hurt. The victim’s family thanked the public and requested privacy.

Morgan’s identity was confirmed at the scene, but formal identification is pending.

Other XL Bully attacks include a 10-year-old girl who died in November 2024, a woman who died in Hornchurch in May 2024, Esther Martin in Jaywick in February 2024, and Ian Langley in Sunderland in October 2023.

Ian Price died in September 2023, Jonathan Hogg in May 2023, Natasha Johnston in January 2023, Shirley Patrick in December 2022, and Ian Symes in August 2022. Joanne Robinson died in July 2022, Keven Jones in May 2022, Bella-Rae Birch in March 2022, and Jack Lis in November 2021.

Kelcie posted about another dog named Remi. The canine was of the opposite gender and she said it was her “whole life.” Kelcie belonged to groups against banning XL Bullys. This ban happened in September 2023.

Neighbors and family left flowers. Morgan’s mom, Marie, left flowers with a heartbreaking note for her daughter, and a lantern with a candle was also placed.

Caelia Dorsett wrote about Morgan, calling her a “sweet angel.” She will never forget the memories and will spend time with loved ones.

Police went to Cobhorn Drive at 7:19 PM on Wednesday. Paramedics also came. Morgan died at the scene because of her injuries.

Police arrested a man and a woman, both in their 20s, for having a dog dangerously out of control and for owning a banned breed.

Police said the suspects were released on bail on Friday. Inspector Terry Murphy spoke on Thursday and said the dog was put down.

He sent thoughts to the family, promising they will get support. The police are investigating.

Morgan was from Shropshire and died from her injuries.
