Glen Hutchinson, formerly of York, jailed for 4 years 9 months after admitting to assault, strangulation and obstruction.

Hutchinson attacked a woman for two years, even when she was pregnant. On one occasion, he punched her in the head while holding a baby. The baby’s head hit a doorframe during the attack, and the child went to the hospital for scans to check for lasting harm.
He tried to stop the victim from helping the police. This led to his conviction, and he was sentenced on February 10 at York Crown Court. A police officer, Gemma Illidge, spoke about the case, stating that Hutchinson showed no remorse.
The officer added that Hutchinson broke his bail terms. This forced the court to keep him detained, as the victim suffered many bad injuries in these attacks. She was very pregnant during some of them, and the officer thanked her for her courage.
The officer hoped the sentence brings some peace and that the victim can move past this ordeal. People suffering abuse should always seek help, as domestic abuse greatly harms our society, and we should not tolerate it at all. If you suspect abuse, report it right away.
