A glimpse into York’s Bonding Warehouse in 1981, when it was a lively riverside pub and restaurant.

Back in the 1800s, it stored trade goods. York’s port was really busy then. But in the 80s, it changed. It became a bar and restaurant. People liked the steak and prices.
John Potts wrote about it in 1985. He said it was lively and welcoming. This building was once a bleak old warehouse. Now it’s a fun place.
Then, in the 90s, comedians took over. Some big stars performed gigs there. This all started with a meeting in 1833. Traders wanted a bonding warehouse for York.
The warehouse was super busy by 1873. It was packed with goods! They planned an extra building in 1874. It was going to be three stories tall.
It shut down after floods in 2000. Before this, it was a pub and comedy spot. Now it is fancy apartments with offices. Quite a change, don’t you think?
